14th Annual Book Signing & Gala
Since 2009, iWRITE has published over 2,000 young writers in 3rd-12th grades in the iWRITE Short Stories by Kids for Kids Anthologies!
During the fall, guests are invited to meet our 125 newly-published young authors and illustrators who will sign their hot off the press books and walk the red carpet—one of the most recognized iWRITE traditions! Guests will also enjoy readings from our Editor’s Choice Recipients and take part in a by-kids-for-kids author panel. You will leave inspired.
Here’s how you can help students experience success:
- Support! Your sponsorship helps us publish and distribute the anthologies, as well as host creative writing workshops
- Invite your friends. We guarantee your friends and their kids will be inspired by these young authors and illustrators.
- Celebrate! Because of you, our iWRITE authors are overcoming tremendous literacy challenges and are experiencing their first taste of success.

Lucky for Literacy: Bubbles and Bingo!
Women who want to have fun while supporting literacy always snag tickets to iWRITE’s Lucky for Literacy: Bubbles and Bingo!
Each spring, iWRITE hosts one of the most anticipated events of the year to support Houston-area students with writing workshops, after-school programs and summer camps.
This is not your ordinary luncheon! All guests have a chance to win fabulous prizes from event sponsors while playing eight games of bingo. Our bingo caller and emcee announce multiple surprises throughout the event, including table prizes and champagne giveaways. Guests even create themes for their tables and dress in costume. The best-dressed and table theme competition always adds to the fun, so don’t be surprised if you see Audrey Hepburns, unicorns, 80’s wigs, and derby hats in the crowd.

Literacy in the Bag
While iWRITE approaches literacy with an emphasis on writing, the organization also helps promote reading.
Literacy in the Bag hosts an annual book drive and community outreach program for both children and adults.
Each year, Literacy in the Bag distributes donated children’s books to the Greater Houston community’s Title 1 Elementary and Middle Schools (some of the most economically underserved schools in the state). These books find their way to school libraries, classroom shelves, and at-home libraries for students. Books for adults are donated to the Friends of the Houston Library which helps fund ASPIRE after-school programs, the Summer Reading Program for children, and cultural programming and activities for the Houston community.
