The “i” The Guy Writer’s Journal Program aims to create a positive association to writing in the classroom. This unique book drive was founded by the Texas Tamale Company &
the iWRITE Literacy Organization. The Literacy in the Bag Book Drive focuses on promoting family literacy in Houston with an accessible form of giving. Every December, our volunteers drop off empty brown paper bags in Houston neighborhoods to encourage book donations. Families are able to place their donations in the bags for pick up the following weekend. In addition to the book drive, Literacy in the Bag will be hosting a free family literacy event at Houston Public Library branch.
Our Ambassador program is more than a volunteer group. They are literacy advocates who help make a difference in Houston schools. Our iWRITE Ambassadors serve as a support system to teachers and provide students with any necessary one-on-one guidance in the classroom.
The iWRITE Youth Club is an extension of the iWRITE Liteacy Organization that embraces the leadership side of the organization’s mission. The club is a space for Houston students in 6th – 12th grade to learn how to lead with innovative ideas, network professionally and engage with their community. Click here to see their website!
