Our Team

Melissa Williams Murphy, founding CEO of the iWRITE Literacy Organization, has worked as a literacy speaker and consultant in over fifty school districts across Texas and California. Her love for children’s creativity and a background in publishing inspired her to launch a professional publishing contest for kids and start the non-profit organization, iWRITE, in 2009. She has authored twelve children’s books ranging from picture books to middle school grade readers, including the “i” The Guy Writing Journals and Teacher Handbooks for the iWRITE program. The development of Melissa’s writing programs for elementary aged students is attributed to her education in psychology and a counseling background. Melissa is a regular correspondent on FOX and ABC news, where she champions the need to keep reading, writing and creativity inside the home and classroom with a balanced amount of electronic usage.

Nicole has been a supporter of iWRITE Literacy Organization since 2013, volunteering as part of the Luncheon committee for a term.  With her background in meeting planning and office management it was a no brainer for her to join the staff as the Operations & Events Coordinator in 2016.

Helping to give children an outlet to share their thoughts and feelings and watching them in turn learn about themselves and become confident individuals is what Nicole loves most about being part of this non-profit.

In her spare time, you’ll find Nicole chasing after her son and baking cakes (oh yeah, she used to be a pastry chef).

Phuong Ha has been a part of the iWRITE Literacy Organization since 2012 as an intern and has always been very passionate about the importance of literacy.

In the spring of 2016, she joined the organization as the Programs & Communications Coordinator. She works closely with iWRITE’s founder in program development. Phuong has contributed to the creation of the “i” The Guy Journal and she assists in volunteer management of the “i” The Guy Writing Program. She also helps the organization in broadening community outreach and participation by managing the organization’s social media/website. She has a B.A. in English and Communications from the University of Houston with specializations in Literature and Broadcast Journalism. She has previously worked with various students as an Academic Tutor and Counselor in both HISD and Alief ISD. Phuong has also managed social media accounts and helped organize citywide volunteer events at ABC 13 Eyewitness News in the Community Affairs Department.

Sharon has been part of the iWRITE organization since its inception in 2009. She developed a love for reading as a child and enjoys reading the hundreds of stories submitted each year for the iWRITE contest.

Sharon’s work history includes proofreading and editing at a small publishing company since 1997. She has edited numerous children’s chapter books, picture books and adult non-fiction/fiction books over the years.

Ryan has been affiliated with iWRITE Literacy Organization since 2009. He is the illustrator of IWRITE’s mascot, “i” The Guy, in books such the “i” The Guy Writer’s Journal and other media for the organization. Volunteering for iWRITE at the Annual Luncheon and other school events has also been one his biggest joys.

Ryan has been involved with iWRITE’s Summer Camp program since 2010 and is the onsite illustration and drawing instructor. His passion for inspiring children’s creativity and imagination through art is a perfect fit with the organization.

As a cartoonist and illustrator of thirteen books, you will find Ryan at different events such as comic conventions, art shows, school visits, church events, other local summer camps, and his weekly YouTube drawing show.
